This sophisticated spiral wound gasket comes with robust outer and inner rings designed to enhance performance significantly. Notably, an inner ring is strategically inserted, delivering superior gasket performance through accurate centering on the flange face. This unique addition prevents the risk of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation, safeguarding the sealing element against extreme temperatures and corrosive mediums. The inner ring fills the void between flanges, curtailing erosion of the flange and minimizing failure risks. Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets the DIN 2699 standard (German) and is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler as per ASME B16.20 standards, while also being crucial for those with graphite fillers. This specially designed profile is ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges. Moreover, the external guide ring imparts additional radial strength to counteract gasket blowout, doubling as a compression stop. Typically constructed from carbon steel (which may be painted or zinc plated to resist corrosion), the outer ring can also be manufactured from specialized alloys for applications demanding higher temperature resistance and confronting severe mediums.
