This exceptional spiral wound gasket features both a robust solid outer and inner ring. Notably, an inner ring is ingeniously incorporated to significantly boost gasket performance. Additionally, the external guide ring precisely centers the gasket on the flange face. The inner ring serves as a preventative measure against the gasket's potential inward collapse during installation, safeguarding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums. It adeptly fills the void between flanges, effectively preventing flange erosion and minimizing the risk of failure. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard, which mandates its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and highly recommended for graphite fillers. This gasket profile is ideally suited for use with raised and flat-faced flanges. To further enhance durability, the external ring provides additional radial strength to avert gasket blowout and functions as a compression stop. Often composed of carbon steel, which is either painted or zinc-plated to combat corrosion, the outer ring can also be fashioned from advanced alloys to cater to higher temperatures and more challenging medium environments.
