This innovative spiral wound gasket boasts a robust outer and inner ring for unparalleled performance. An additional inner ring is meticulously inserted to further enhance the gasket's strength and reliability. This ring ensures precise centering on the flange face and safeguards against the risk of implosion during installation. It also shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, filling the void between flanges to prevent erosion and minimize failure risks. Typically, the inner ring matches the winding alloy, adhering to the DIN 2699 German standard which mandates inner rings in all such gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, ASME B16.20 standards require inner rings, which are also crucial for graphite fillers. This design is ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring adds extra radial strength to avert blowout and acts as a compression limiter, often crafted from carbon steel (either painted or zinc plated for corrosion resistance), but can also be made from alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
