This spiral wound gasket boasts a robust design with a solid outer and inner ring. The insertion of an inner ring significantly enhances gasket performance while an external guide ring ensures accurate centering on the flange face. The inner ring prevents implosion into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills the flange void to prevent erosion, and minimizes failure risks. Typically made of the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to DIN 2699 standards and is necessary for PTFE fillers per ASME B16.20 standards, also highly recommended for graphite fillers. Designed for raised and flat-faced flanges, the external ring provides added radial strength, preventing blowout and acting as a compression stop. Commonly made of corrosion-resistant carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated), the outer ring can also be crafted from alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
