This innovative design includes an inner ring, strategically inserted to bolster gasket effectiveness, expertly centering the gasket on the flange face. This enhancement mitigates the risk of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation while shielding the sealing element from harsh temperatures and aggressive mediums. The intelligent design fills voids between flanges, curbing flange erosion and minimizing failure risks. In line with the DIN 2699 German standard, inner rings are included in all spiral wound gaskets. Additionally, ASME B16.20 standards mandate inner rings for gaskets with PTFE fillers, highlighting their importance for graphite fillers. Ideally crafted for raised and flat-faced flanges, the external guide ring significantly enhances radial strength, thwarting gasket blowout and serving as a reliable compression stop. Typically constructed from carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance), the outer ring can also be fashioned from alloys for high-temperature and rigorous medium applications, ensuring versatility and durability.
