The inner ring plays a crucial role by safeguarding the gasket from imploding during installation, defending against extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums, and effectively filling the void between flanges to protect against erosion. In addition, it minimizes the risk of failure. Crafted to the exacting standards of DIN 2699, inner rings are available in all our spiral wound gaskets and are essential for PTFE fillers as dictated by ASME B16.20 standards, while also being advantageous for graphite fillers. This gasket profile is perfectly suited for both raised and flat faced flanges. The external guide ring not only augments radial strength to prevent blowout but also functions as a compression limiter. Typically manufactured from painted or zinc-plated carbon steel to ward off corrosion, the outer ring can also be made using high-performance alloys for applications involving extreme temperatures and challenging mediums.
