This custom-designed spiral wound gasket features robust outer and inner rings. The addition of an inner ring enhances performance, ensuring precise centering on the flange face. This inner ring prevents gasket implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh environments, fills the void between flanges to avert erosion, and significantly reduces failure risks. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 (German) standards, which specify inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are mandatory for gaskets with PTFE filler and crucial for those with graphite fillers. Ideal for use in raised and flat-faced flanges, the external guide ring adds extra radial strength to prevent blowouts and serves as a compression stop. Often made of carbon steel (painted or zinc plated to resist corrosion), the outer ring can also be crafted from alloys for high-temperature and more demanding applications.
