The inner ring, crafted to bolster gasket stability, prevents implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme conditions, and fills the gap between flanges to avert erosion. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to DIN 2699 standards (German) and is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler per ASME B16.20 standards, particularly important for graphite fillers. Ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges, the gasket includes an external guide ring for precise centering and enhanced radial strength, preventing blowout and acting as a compression stop. Typically made of carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated to combat corrosion), the outer ring can be composed of specialized alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
