The inner ring is ingeniously crafted to thwart any risk of the gasket collapsing into the pipe during installation. It acts as a guardian for the sealing element, shielding it from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, while effectively filling the void between flanges to prevent erosion and minimize the chance of failure. Typically constructed from the same high-quality alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the DIN 2699 standard (German) that mandates inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are required by ASME B16.20 standards and are deemed critical for those with graphite fillers. This sophisticated profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges.
