An additional inner ring has been strategically inserted to significantly boost gasket performance. This inner ring prevents potential gasket implosion during installation, safeguards the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills any void between flanges to avert flange erosion, and minimizes the risk of failure. Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the German DIN 2699 standard, mandating its presence in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are a necessity for gaskets with PTFE filler and are deemed crucial for those with graphite fillers. Perfectly suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges, the innovative design of the external guide ring accurately centers the gasket on the flange face, providing added radial strength, preventing blowouts, and acting as a reliable compression stop.
