Our exceptional 2" 600# spiral wound gasket is engineered with a robust solid outer and inner ring. The addition of an inner ring significantly enhances gasket performance by ensuring accurate centering on the flange face via an external guide ring. This inner ring serves a vital role in preventing implosion into the pipe during installation, protecting the sealing element from extreme temperatures and aggressive media. It efficiently fills the void between flanges to avert flange erosion and reduces failure risks. Typically constructed from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring is compliant with the DIN 2699 standard (German) demanding inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and are recommended for those with graphite fillers. This versatile profile is compatible with both raised and flat-faced flanges. To enhance durability, the external ring offers additional radial strength, preventing gasket blowout and serving as a compression limiter. Commonly crafted from carbon steel—painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance—the outer ring can also be manufactured from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and harsher conditions.
