This spiral wound gasket boasts a robust construction with both solid outer and inner rings. The inclusion of an inner ring significantly enhances the gasket’s performance by preventing potential implosions during installation, ensuring protection from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and filling the void between flanges to prevent erosion. As per the DIN 2699 standard (German), inner rings are mandated in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE fillers, ASME B16.20 standards also require these inner rings, which are crucial for graphite fillers as well. The meticulously designed profile is ideal for raised and flat faced flanges. The external guide ring ensures accurate centering on the flange face, providing additional radial strength to avert gasket blowout and functioning as a compression stop. Typically made of carbon steel (painted or zinc plated to prevent corrosion), the outer ring can also be crafted from high-performance alloys for applications requiring higher temperatures and more severe mediums.
