This exceptional spiral wound gasket is engineered with a robust solid outer and inner ring to elevate performance. An inner ring is thoughtfully integrated to safeguard against gasket implosion during installation, fortify the sealing element against extreme temperatures and harsh media, and fill voids between flanges to avert flange erosion, thereby minimizing failure risks. Typically composed of the same high-grade alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the stringent DIN 2699 standard (German) for all spiral wound gaskets. Inner rings are indispensable for gaskets with PTFE filler per ASME B16.20 standards and are deemed vital for graphite fillers. This versatile profile excels in both raised and flat-faced flanges. The meticulously crafted external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face, providing additional radial strength to prevent gasket blowout and acting as a compression stop. Often constructed from carbon steel, which is painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance, the outer ring can also be crafted from specialized alloys for higher temperatures and demanding media applications.
