A strategically inserted inner ring significantly boosts the gasket's performance by securing precise centering on the flange face through its external guide ring. The inner ring is essential to prevent potential implosions within pipes during installation, shielding the sealing element from high temperatures and aggressive mediums. It effectively fills the flange void, preventing erosion and reducing the risk of failure. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the rigorous DIN 2699 German standard, mandating its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets using PTFE fillers, inner rings are obligatory according to ASME B16.20 standards, and they are deemed crucial for those with graphite fillers. The profile is meticulously designed for use in both raised and flat-faced flanges. Meanwhile, the external ring imparts additional radial strength to avert blowouts and functions as a compression stopper.
