This gasket is designed with a robust solid outer and inner ring, including a strategically inserted inner ring that significantly elevates its performance. The external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face, optimizing gasket placement and effectiveness. The inner ring serves multiple protective functions: it prevents implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme conditions, fills flange voids to avert erosion, and minimizes failure risks. Typically composed of the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to DIN 2699 standards (German) and is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler per ASME B16.20 standards, also highly recommended for graphite fillers. Ideal for both raised and flat faced flanges, the external ring fortifies with additional radial strength, preventing blowout while acting as a compression stop. Often crafted from carbon steel to resist corrosion, the outer ring can also be tailored from other alloys for higher temperature resilience and demanding medium applications.
