This state-of-the-art spiral wound gasket is equipped with robust outer and inner rings. Notably, an inner ring has been strategically integrated to boost gasket performance. The external guide ring ensures precision centering on the flange face. The meticulously engineered inner ring serves multiple crucial purposes: it mitigates the risk of gasket implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills the gap between flanges to prevent flange erosion, and considerably reduces the risk of failure. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, this inner ring adheres to the German DIN 2699 standard, mandating its presence in all spiral wound gaskets. In compliance with ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and are also highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This design excels in both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring adds significant radial strength, preventing gasket blowout and doubling as a compression stop. Often constructed from carbon steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, or from alloys for extreme temperature and severe medium applications, the outer ring offers exceptional durability and reliability.
