Our premium spiral wound gasket features a robust internal and external ring design. The inclusion of an inner ring is a masterstroke in enhancing gasket performance. It accurately centers the gasket on the flange face and is engineered to prevent any risk of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation. This vital component shields the sealing element from harsh temperatures and aggressive mediums. It fills the gap between flanges to avert flange erosion, and significantly mitigates the chance of failure. Typically fabricated from the same alloy as the winding, this inner ring adheres to the German DIN 2699 standards, which mandate its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20, inner rings are indispensable for gaskets with PTFE filler and highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. This profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring provides critical radial fortification to prevent gasket blowout, doubling as a compression stop for enhanced safety. Often crafted from carbon steel, either painted or zinc-plated to resist corrosion, the outer ring may also be constructed from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more demanding mediums.
