This innovative spiral wound gasket, expertly crafted with a robust solid outer and inner ring, features an ingeniously inserted inner ring to significantly elevate gasket performance. Designed with precision, the external guide ring ensures accurate alignment on the flange face. The inner ring, crafted to match the winding alloy, serves multiple purposes: it prevents possible implosion into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and effectively fills the void between flanges to avert erosion, thus minimizing failure risks. Adhering to the stringent DIN 2699 (German) standard, inner rings are mandatory in all spiral wound gaskets. Furthermore, the ASME B16.20 standards mandate these inner rings for gaskets with PTFE fillers and strongly recommend them for those with graphite fillers. This advanced profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring not only provides superior radial strength, preventing gasket blowout, but also functions as a reliable compression stop. Often constructed from carbon steel (with protective paint or zinc plating to combat corrosion), the outer ring can also be upgraded to alloy versions for managing higher temperatures and more challenging medium applications.
