This advanced spiral wound gasket boasts a solid outer and inner ring. An inner ring has been strategically inserted to enhance performance, ensuring the gasket is precisely centered on the flange face. This critical addition prevents gasket implosion during installation, protects the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and fills the void between flanges to prevent erosion. Furthermore, the inner ring reduces the risk of failure and is typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding. Adhering to the DIN 2699 German standard, inner rings are mandatory for all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are required for gaskets with PTFE filler and are highly recommended for graphite fillers. This profile is designed for use in raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring adds radial strength, preventing gasket blowout and acting as a compression stop. Typically, the outer ring is made of carbon steel (painted or zinc plated for corrosion protection) but can also be made from specific alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
