The meticulously crafted inner ring prevents any risk of the gasket collapsing into the pipe during installation, ensuring consistent protection of the sealing element from extreme temperatures and various mediums. Moreover, it fills the void between flanges to shield them from erosion, thereby reducing the likelihood of gasket failure. Typically, the inner ring is composed of the same alloy as the winding, in alignment with DIN 2699 standards (German), which mandates inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are obligatory under ASME B16.20 standards and hold particular significance when graphite fillers are utilized. This advanced profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring not only provides enhanced radial strength to avert blowout but also serves as a precise compression stop.
