This spiral wound gasket comes equipped with robust outer and inner rings. The innovative inner ring enhances gasket performance by providing precise centering on the flange face. To ensure maximum reliability, the inner ring prevents gasket implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme conditions, fills the void between flanges to prevent erosion, and minimizes the risk of failure. Typically made from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets DIN 2699 (German) standards and is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler under ASME B16.20 standards, also advisable for graphite fillers. Ideally suited for raised and flat-faced flanges, the external ring offers additional radial strength to prevent blowout and serves as a compression stop. Often crafted from carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated to resist corrosion), the outer ring can also be made from specialized alloys for high-temperature or severe applications.
