DOUBLE JACKETED GASKET
Metal jacketed gaskets are ingeniously crafted from a slender metallic shell that encases a flexible filler material. This robust metal casing serves as a protective barrier for the filler, ensuring resistance against pressure, temperature fluctuations, and corrosion. These hand-made gaskets are available in a multitude of shapes and sizes, featuring a variety of metals and fillers to choose from. Customizable internal ribs can be configured to meet specific needs. Ideal for heat exchanger applications, these gaskets necessitate perfectly even flange surfaces and high bolt loads for optimal sealing.
Single jacketed gaskets are designed with a single surface where both the outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) are enveloped by a durable metal jacket. They are perfect for applications involving narrow flange widths in low-pressure valves and pumps.
Double jacketed gaskets boast a complete enclosure with a two-piece metal jacket that covers the OD, ID, and both sealing surfaces. They are extensively utilized in heat exchanger applications and are well-suited for environments involving corrosive substances and high temperatures.
Internal ribs, also known as pass partition bars, can be either integral or welded. No matter the type, they ensure the primary seal remains securely intact.
APPLICATION
> Heat exchangers
> Gas mains
> Boiler and fues
> Pumps.
> Valve bonnets
Gaskets with simpler designs are typically used in pipeline flange applications and the sealing surfaces of internal combustion engines. Conversely, more complex shapes are engineered for the flange covers of heat exchangers, among other uses. These gaskets generally range from 10-25 MM in width and 2-8 MM in thickness, capable of withstanding maximum working pressures of 6-10 Mpa.
Jackets are available in a variety of metals including soft iron, low carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel, copper, aluminum, brass, titanium, monel, and more.
The filler options include expanded graphite, ceramic, PTFE, and other resilient materials.
The gaskets demonstrate a thickness tolerance of (+0.03 inch, -0.000 inch) (+0.8mm, -0.0mm), ensuring precise fit and function.
(1). For gaskets ranging from NPS 1/2 to NPS 24, the allowable tolerances for outside and inside diameters are +0.06 inch, -0.0 inch (+1.5mm, -0.0mm);
(2). Be aware that there are no Class 400 flanges available for NPS 1/2 through NPS 3, hence Class 600 should be used instead;
(3). Note that Class 600 flanges are absent for NPS 1/2 through NPS 2-1/2, necessitating the use of Class 1500;
(4). Also, there are no Class 2500 flanges available for NPS 14 and larger.
