This cutting-edge spiral wound gasket boasts a robust outer ring and an inner ring designed for superior performance. The inner ring serves multiple crucial purposes: it enhances gasket durability, protects the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and fills the void between flanges to prevent erosion. Furthermore, it significantly reduces the risk of gasket failure. Constructed typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. In line with ASME B16.20 standards, the inner ring is essential for PTFE fillers and highly recommended for graphite fillers. This exceptional gasket is ideally used in raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring not only provides additional radial strength to prevent blowout but also acts as a compression stop. Often made from carbon steel-either painted or zinc-plated to prevent corrosion-it can also be crafted from specialized alloys for higher temperature and more demanding applications, making it a versatile choice for a range of industrial environments.
