The inner ring is specifically inserted to enhance performance by ensuring the gasket's stability during installation and preventing any implosion into the pipe. It acts as a shield for the sealing element against extreme temperatures and hostile mediums, effectively filling the gap between flanges to avert flange erosion, and significantly reducing potential failure risks. Typically, the inner ring shares the same alloy composition as the winding, adhering to the DIN 2699 standards (German), which require inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets.
