This high-performance spiral wound gasket boasts a solid outer and inner ring, with an additional inner ring inserted to significantly enhance its performance. The external guide ring ensures precise centering of the gasket on the flange face, protecting against the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation. This inner ring shields the sealing element from extreme conditions, fills voids between flanges to prevent erosion, and minimizes failure risks. Typically matching the winding alloy, the inner ring conforms to DIN 2699 standards (German) and ASME B16.20 standards, which mandate it for gaskets with PTFE filler and recommend it for graphite fillers. This configuration is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring provides extra radial strength to prevent blowouts and serves as a compression stop. Often made from carbon steel with corrosion-resistant coatings, it can also be crafted from alloys for high-temperature or severe medium applications.
