Discover the superior design and benefits of our spiral wound gasket, meticulously engineered with a robust solid outer and inner ring. An inner ring has been strategically added to elevate gasket performance, ensuring optimal alignment on the flange face with an external guide ring. This innovation is crucial for safeguarding against gasket implosion into the pipe during installation, shielding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and aggressive media, and bridging flanges to prevent erosion and reduce failure risk. Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. Per ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and highly recommended for graphite fillers. Ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges, the external ring also provides additional radial strength, acting as a compression stop to avert gasket blowout. Typically fashioned from painted or zinc-plated carbon steel to ward off corrosion, the outer ring can also be alloyed for applications involving higher temperatures and more aggressive media.
