Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. Per ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and highly recommended for graphite fillers. Ideal for both raised and flat-faced flanges, the external ring also provides additional radial strength, acting as a compression stop to avert gasket blowout.
