To prevent any risk of the gasket collapsing into the pipe during installation, the inner ring acts as a safeguard, shielding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and various mediums. It fills any voids between flanges, protecting against erosion and significantly reducing failure risks, as prescribed by the DIN 2699 standard. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are a requirement according to ASME B16.20, and highly recommended for graphite fillers. This versatile profile is adeptly suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. Furthermore, the outer ring contributes additional radial strength, preventing blowouts and acting as a reliable compression stop.
