This premium spiral wound gasket is designed with both a robust solid outer and inner ring, enhanced by the integration of an additional inner ring that significantly boosts gasket performance. The external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face, while the inner ring plays a critical role in preventing gasket implosion during installation. It shields the sealing element from extreme conditions and filling voids between flanges, thereby preventing flange erosion and reducing failure risks. Crafted typically from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard and is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler per ASME B16.20 standards, making it crucial for graphite fillers as well. Designed for raised and flat faced flanges, the external ring imparts extra radial strength, guarding against gasket blowout and serving as a compression stop. Outer rings are commonly carbon steel, optionally painted or zinc-plated to resist corrosion, but can be manufactured from specialized alloys for high-temperature and demanding applications.
