The strategically inserted inner ring serves multiple purposes: it boosts gasket efficiency, prevents implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme environments, and fills the void between flanges to avert flange erosion. Furthermore, it significantly reduces potential failure risks. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the stringent DIN 2699 German standard and is indispensable for gaskets with PTFE filler as per ASME B16.20 standards. It is also highly recommended for graphite fillers. This specific profile adapts seamlessly to raised and flat faced flanges. The external guide ring provides essential radial strength, acting as a safeguard against blowouts and serving as an effective compression stop. Often manufactured from corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which may be painted or zinc plated, the outer ring can also be custom-made from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more severe conditions.
