This exceptional spiral wound gasket is engineered with precision, featuring a robust outer and inner ring design. The inner ring has been thoughtfully integrated to elevate gasket performance, accompanied by an external guide ring that ensures meticulous centering on the flange face. This inner ring serves multiple critical functions: it prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing component from intense temperatures and harsh substances, occupies the space between flanges to avert flange erosion, and minimizes the risk of gasket failure. Typically composed of the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the German DIN 2699 standard, which mandates inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, inner rings are a necessity as per ASME B16.20 standards and are deemed vital for graphite fillers. This gasket profile is ideally suited for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring enhances radial strength to combat gasket blowout and functions as a compression limiter. Often crafted from carbon steel, which is painted or zinc-plated to prevent corrosion, the outer ring can also be fashioned from alloys for applications involving higher temperatures and more severe conditions.
