SPIRAL WOUND GASKET
DESCRIPTION:
Product Type:XINSEN-SD
Features:
This spiral wound gasket is designed with a robust outer and inner ring. The addition of an inner ring significantly enhances gasket performance. An external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face. The inner ring prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills gaps between flanges to prevent flange erosion, and minimizes the risk of failure. Typically made of the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets the DIN 2699 standard (German) which mandates inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, PTFE filler gaskets require inner rings, and they are also crucial for graphite fillers. This configuration is generally used in raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring adds radial strength to avert gasket blowout and serves as a compression stop. Often crafted from carbon steel (painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance), the outer ring can also be made from alloys to withstand higher temperatures and more severe conditions.
