This exceptional spiral wound gasket is engineered with a robust outer and inner ring design. The enhancement of an inserted inner ring significantly boosts gasket performance. The external guide ring ensures precise centering of the gasket on the flange face, providing superior operational reliability. The inner ring is ingeniously included to avert potential gasket implosion into the pipe during installation, safeguarding the sealing element against extreme temperatures and harsh mediums. It fills the void between flanges to protect against flange erosion, minimizing the risk of gasket failure. Conforming to the DIN 2699 standard (German), inner rings are a crucial feature in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE fillers, inner rings are mandated by ASME B16.20 standards, and are highly recommended for graphite fillers. Ideal for both raised and flat faced flanges, this profile offers enhanced radial strength, preventing gasket blowout while acting as a compression stop. The outer ring, typically crafted from carbon steel (either painted or zinc plated to combat corrosion), can be made from specialized alloys for high-temperature and severe medium conditions.
