Featuring a solid outer and inner ring, this gasket includes an inner ring that has been expertly inserted to significantly enhance its effectiveness. The inner ring serves multiple critical purposes: it prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe upon installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills the void between flanges to avert flange erosion, and minimizes the risk of gasket failure. Constructed from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring meets the stringent requirements of the DIN 2699 standard (German) and is mandatory for gaskets with PTFE filler as per ASME B16.20 standards, while also being essential for those with graphite fillers. This sophisticated profile is ideally suited for both raised and flat-faced flanges. To further prevent blowout and serve as a compression stop, the external guide ring provides additional radial strength. Often crafted from carbon steel to resist corrosion, whether painted or zinc-plated, the outer ring can also be fashioned from specialized alloys for applications involving higher temperatures and more severe media.
