This innovative spiral wound gasket is expertly crafted with a robust solid outer and inner ring design. An additional inner ring has been strategically inserted to boost the gasket's performance, ensuring an accurate centering on the flange face with an external guide ring. This inner ring not only prevents the risk of the gasket collapsing into the pipe during installation but also shields the sealing element from harsh temperatures and corrosive mediums. It effectively fills the gap between flanges, preventing flange erosion, and significantly reducing the risk of failure. Usually crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring is essential for PTFE filler gaskets as per ASME B16.20 standards and is deemed critical for graphite fillers. Adhering to the DIN 2699 standard (German), inner rings are a requisite in all spiral wound gaskets. This design is especially suited for raised and flat-faced flanges. The robust external ring delivers additional radial strength, averting gasket blowout and serving as a compression stop. Typically manufactured from carbon steel (either painted or zinc-plated to resist corrosion), the outer ring can also be fabricated from specialty alloys for applications involving higher temperatures and more aggressive mediums.
