The expertly designed inner ring enhances performance by preventing gasket implosion during installation and shielding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums. It adeptly fills the void between flanges, thus guarding against flange erosion and mitigating potential failures. Crafted typically from the same high-grade alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the DIN 2699 German standard, which mandates inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, ASME B16.20 standards necessitate inner rings, and they are highly recommended for graphite fillers as well. This outstanding profile is ideal for use with raised and flat-faced flanges. The external guide ring not only centers the gasket with precision on the flange face but also provides crucial additional radial strength, acting as a reliable compression stop to prevent blowouts.
