The external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face, while the inner ring prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation. It also offers protection against extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and effectively fills the void between flanges, safeguarding against flange erosion and minimizing failure risks. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 German standard and is mandatory for PTFE fillers under ASME B16.20 standards, being especially crucial for graphite fillers. Ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges, the external ring significantly enhances radial strength to avert gasket blowout, doubling as a compression stop. Often manufactured from carbon steel—painted or zinc-plated for corrosion resistance—it can also be made from alloys for demanding high-temperature and severe medium applications.
