The integrated inner ring significantly enhances performance by preventing gasket implosion into the pipe during installation, shielding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and filling the void between flanges to avert erosion and failure. Crafted to meet the DIN 2699 German standard and ASME B16.20 for PTFE fillers, the inner ring, typically made of the same alloy as the winding, also plays a critical role for graphite fillers. Ideal for both raised and flat faced flanges, the external guide ring ensures precise centering on the flange face and imparts additional radial strength, acting as a compression stop to prevent blowouts. While outer rings are commonly made of corrosion-resistant carbon steel (painted or zinc plated), they can also be crafted from specialized alloys for high-temperature and severe medium applications.
