Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the revered DIN 2699 standard (German), mandating its use in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets with PTFE filler, the ASME B16.20 standards require the inner ring, which is also deemed essential for graphite fillers. This design is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges, offering additional radial strength through the external guide ring to avert gasket blowout, doubling as a compression limiter.
