This enhancement is designed to significantly boost gasket performance and ensure precise centering on the flange face via the external guide ring. The inner ring serves multiple critical functions: it prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from harsh temperatures and corrosive mediums, fills the gap between flanges to avert flange erosion, and diminishes the risk of gasket failure. Typically, the inner ring is crafted from the same high-grade alloy as the winding, conforming to the rigorous DIN 2699 German standards, which mandate inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. In accordance with ASME B16.20 standards, gaskets with PTFE fillers require inner rings, and they are deemed essential for graphite fillers. This advanced profile is ideally suited for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring fortifies the gasket by granting additional radial strength to avert blowouts and functions as a compression stop.
