Constructed from the synthetic fluoropolymer tetrafluoroethylene, PTFE gaskets consist entirely of carbon and fluorine. Naturally hydrophobic, these gaskets are designed to repel water and water-based substances. They also boast one of the lowest solid-state coefficients of friction available.
