This ingenious feature not only prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation but also shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and corrosive mediums. Additionally, it fills voids between flanges to avert flange erosion and significantly minimizes potential failures. Typically crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard, which mandates its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. Compliance with ASME B16.20 standards is ensured for gaskets with PTFE filler, underscoring the importance of inner rings in graphite applications. Our design is expertly suited for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring imparts extra radial strength, acting as a safeguard against gasket blowout while serving as a compression stop.
