This expertly engineered spiral wound gasket comes with robust outer and inner rings. The inner ring is meticulously inserted to boost gasket performance and is paired with an external guide ring to ensure precise centering on the flange face. The inclusion of the inner ring serves multiple purposes: it prevents the gasket from imploding into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, fills voids between flanges to avert flange erosion, and significantly reduces failure risks. Typically, this inner ring is crafted from the same alloy as the winding itself. In line with German DIN 2699 standards, inner rings are an essential feature of all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, gaskets with PTFE fillers must include inner rings, and they are highly recommended for graphite fillers. Our gasket profile is versatile, suitable for both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring adds a layer of radial strength, preventing blowouts and serving as a compression stop. For enhanced durability, the outer ring is often constructed from carbon steel, either painted or zinc-plated to prevent corrosion. However, we also offer alloy options for applications involving higher temperatures and more severe mediums.
