This highly engineered spiral wound gasket boasts an advanced design with robust outer and inner rings. Enhanced with an internal ring to elevate gasket performance, this feature ensures precise centering on the flange face. The internal ring is crucial for preventing gasket implosion during installation, shielding the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, filling voids to avert flange erosion, and minimizing the risk of failure. Typically composed of the same alloy as the winding, the internal ring adheres to the stringent DIN 2699 (German) standards and ASME B16.20 standards for PTFE filler gaskets, with similar importance for graphite fillers. This profile is ideal for raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring augments radial strength to guard against gasket blowout and functions as a compression stop. Often constructed from carbon steel—with options for painting or zinc plating to resist corrosion—it can also be made of specialized alloys for high-temperature and demanding applications.
