An intricately designed inner ring is strategically integrated to significantly enhance performance, ensuring optimal alignment with the flange face via an external guide ring. This innovative inner ring safeguards against potential implosion during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and corrosive mediums, fills inter-flange voids to prevent erosion, and substantially minimizes failure risks. Typically crafted from the same resilient alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the stringent DIN 2699 standard, mandating its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. In compliance with ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE fillers and critically beneficial for those with graphite fillers.
