An inner ring is strategically added to significantly enhance the gasket's performance by providing accurate centering on the flange face with its external guide ring. This inner ring is meticulously designed to prevent any possibility of the gasket imploding into the pipe during installation, shield the sealing element from extreme temperatures and harsh mediums, and fill the void between flanges to avert erosion and potential failure. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, the inner ring aligns with DIN 2699 standards which mandate inner rings for all spiral wound gaskets. Inner rings are essential for gaskets featuring PTFE fillers as per ASME B16.20 standards, and hold critical importance for graphite fillers. This profile is adeptly utilized in both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring further adds to the gasket's strength, preventing blowout and serving as a reliable compression stop.
