An innovative inner ring is ingeniously inserted to amplify gasket performance—ensuring optimal functionality by accurately centering the gasket on the flange face. The inclusion of the inner ring averts the risk of gasket implosion into the pipe during installation. It serves as a protective shield for the sealing element against extreme temperatures and aggressive mediums. It effectively fills the void between flanges, safeguarding them from erosion, and significantly diminishes the likelihood of failure. Crafted from the same high-quality alloy as the winding, the inner ring adheres to the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, an inner ring is essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and is deemed crucial for those with graphite fillers. This design is commonly utilized in both raised and flat-faced flanges. The external ring fortifies the gasket with additional radial strength to thwart blowout and functions as a reliable compression stop.
