For enhanced gasket efficiency, an inner ring has been expertly integrated, offering several key advantages: it aids in centering the gasket accurately on the flange face, preventing any potential implosion into the pipe upon installation. This critical inner ring also shields the sealing element from harsh temperatures and aggressive mediums, fills voids between flanges to avert flange erosion, and minimizes failure risks. Constructed typically from the same high-grade alloy as the winding, it complies with the DIN 2699 German standard mandating inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. Gaskets with PTFE fillers, per ASME B16.20 standards, require these rings, and they are deemed significant for graphite fillers. This configuration is tailored for both raised and flat-faced flanges. Additionally, the external guide ring furnishes extra radial strength, averting gasket blowout while serving as a compression limiter. This configuration is likewise suited for raised and flat-faced flanges.
