This inner component serves multiple critical functions: it ensures precise centering on flange faces, safeguards against implosion during installation, and protects the sealing element from harsh temperatures and media. It also efficiently fills voids between flanges to prevent erosion, significantly lowering the risk of gasket failure. Typically crafted from the same high-standard alloy as the winding, the inner ring complies with the DIN 2699 standard (German), which mandates its inclusion in all spiral wound gaskets. For gaskets featuring PTFE fillers, the ASME B16.20 standards necessitate inner rings, which are also deemed essential for graphite fillers. This expertly designed profile is suitable for both raised and flat-faced flanges.
