The inner ring serves a vital role: it prevents the gasket from collapsing into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperature variations and aggressive media, fills the gap between flanges to prevent flange erosion, and significantly lowers the risk of failure. Crafted from the same alloy as the winding, this inner ring aligns with German DIN 2699 standards, which mandate inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler and are highly recommended for those with graphite fillers.
