To further enhance its functionality, an additional inner ring has been integrated to optimize the gasket's performance. This sophisticated enhancement ensures precise centering with an innovative external guide ring that aligns perfectly with the flange face. The inner ring serves multiple crucial roles: it fortifies the gasket against implosion into the pipe during installation, shields the sealing element from extreme temperatures and adverse mediums, fills the void between flanges to prevent erosion, and significantly lowers the risk of failure. Typically crafted from the same high-quality alloy as the winding, it meets the stringent DIN 2699 German standard, mandating inner rings in all spiral wound gaskets. According to ASME B16.20 standards, inner rings are essential for gaskets with PTFE filler, while also being highly recommended for those with graphite fillers. Ideal for application in both raised and flat faced flanges, the external ring imparts additional radial strength, preventing blowouts and serving as a reliable compression stop.
